Online Adjunct Instructor – Medical Terminology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Instruct a foundational course on medical vocabulary, encompassing medical terminology, body systems, word components, abbreviations, as well as terms related to diseases and surgeries.

• Maintain regular communication with students regarding their performance feedback.

• Be accessible via phone, email, and personal appointments for inquiries and academic support.

• Respond swiftly to the Dean and University personnel about performance, student issues, and requirements for faculty files or accreditation.

• Employ effective teaching methodologies and a variety of instructional techniques.

• Foster an engaging, dynamic, and student-focused online classroom environment.

• Utilize live classroom tools to facilitate synchronous learning sessions.

• Align class session goals with overall course performance objectives.

• Exhibit subject-matter expertise and convey this knowledge effectively to students.

• Participate in the development and implementation of curriculum and assessment strategies.

• Offer student support and outreach through both synchronous and asynchronous communication and meetings.

• Attend designated events, program meetings, and committee work as appointed by the Dean.

• Fulfill required professional development through Rasmussen Educational Units.

• Report to an Academic Dean.

• Teach up to 3 work units each academic quarter.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in a Healthcare or Health Science-related field.

• Teaching experience is preferred; a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the relevant field of study is desired.

• Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision.

• Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with students, leadership, and colleagues.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Regular access to a computer is necessary.

• Operating system must be Windows XP or higher.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 is required.

• An internet connection is essential.

• Preferred candidates will be licensed or registered healthcare professionals or hold national healthcare-related certification.

• Experience in the healthcare or clinical field is preferred.

• Active and unencumbered professional licenses/certifications required for specialized schools must be maintained before teaching.

• Official transcripts for all degrees obtained from accredited institutions are mandatory prior to teaching.

• Must adhere to Department of Education, accrediting agency, and applicable state regulations.
