Oncology Medical Science Liaison – Senior

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the local medical representative of AstraZeneca within the designated disease area.

• Develop a localized medical strategy aimed at enhancing patient care and outcomes in the region.

• Offer medical and scientific assistance for oncology products currently on the market, as well as for new indications and compounds under development.

• Serve as the local medical leader by creating a customized strategy that aligns with AZ USMA priorities, local nuances, and patient requirements.

• Establish collaborative relationships with academic institutions, hospitals, managed care organizations, and private practices.

• Facilitate scientific discussions with oncologists, urologists, and key members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

• Lead peer-to-peer scientific and medical engagements.

• Collect insights regarding the treatment landscape, healthcare environment, barriers to treatment, and opportunities to enhance cancer patient outcomes.

• Communicate insights and findings within the organization and propose actions to advance patient care and outcomes.

• Engage with key opinion leaders (KOLs) to discuss data and educational gaps that could inform medicine usage and research & development strategies.

• Condense clinical data into precise, balanced information and relay relevant information effectively.

• Keep abreast of scientific advancements, products, competitors, healthcare trends, disease states, and therapeutic interventions.

• Attend pertinent scientific meetings and conferences.

• Work in collaboration with Clinical Operations on Phase 3 trials from feasibility through execution.

• Discuss and follow up on External Scientific Relationships (ESRs).

⛳️ Requirements

• An advanced scientific degree is required (e.g., Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA, or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) or in a relevant therapeutic area.

• Proven expertise in discussing scientific content and context with diverse audiences.

• Ability to articulate ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one discussions, and small group interactions.

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively.

• Proficient in navigating a matrix environment.

• Strong comprehension of clinical study design and protocols.

• Basic knowledge of the healthcare system, clinical trial methodologies, statistics, and the regulatory landscape.

• Exceptional project management skills.

• Willingness to travel (40-60% by car and plane domestically).

• A doctorate is strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline.
