Oncology Field Medical Director, Thoracic

📋 Description

• Strategize and implement Medical initiatives and engagement efforts for designated clients in Michigan and Ohio.

• Stay informed about pertinent therapeutic fields, disease conditions, and Pfizer products.

• Supply therapeutic area and product knowledge to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Act as a bridge for Medical Information and customer insights.

• Create and execute coordinated Field Medical strategies.

• Collaborate with Medical colleagues at headquarters, Medical Information, and other Field Medical teams.

• Provide authorized medical and scientific education to healthcare practitioners through various channels, including live events, virtual meetings, written communication, and phone interactions.

• Enhance patient-centricity in Medical communications and deliverables.

• Identify and engage key customer segments.

• Address unsolicited medical inquiries from healthcare providers while adhering to Pfizer policies.

• Lead advisory boards under managerial supervision.

• Manage incoming healthcare professional inquiries through a structured triage process.

• Identify potential locations for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials, focusing on sites that serve under-represented patient populations.

• Offer Medical support throughout the Investigator Sponsored Research process.

• Develop expertise in research and therapeutic areas, including insights from current congress data and disease-state literature.

• Provide leadership for medical assets.

• Explain study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation concepts to clients.

• Drive the territory through strategic planning, prioritization, and accountability for medical outcomes.

• Engage with local Patient Advocacy Groups in collaboration with Corporate Affairs and HQ Medical Affairs.

• Deliver actionable insights from the field to inform medical strategies and evidence generation.

• Participate in cross-functional committees related to Medical, therapeutic areas, and assets.

• Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs at clinical and professional associations and societies.

• Mentor new partners, advisory board leads, and study leads.

• Engage in special projects as required.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in a health science is mandatory.

• Relevant experience is necessary: PharmD/PhD with 6 years, MBA/MSc with 8 years, or BA/BSc with 10 years of experience.

• Must currently reside in the territory: Michigan and Ohio (MI/OH).

• Recognized subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholders.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflict positively.

• Capability to prioritize and implement projects successfully, demonstrate sound judgment, and thrive in a continuous improvement setting.

• Ability to collaborate within a matrixed, multi-disciplinary team.

• Proven ability to lead change and adjust to organizational transformations.

• Clinical and technical proficiency.

• Capacity to quickly adopt and employ new digital technologies and record medical interactions.

• Must be able to operate a Pfizer company vehicle and travel by air regularly.

• Willingness to travel 60-80% of the time.

• Must live within a reasonable distance of an airline ‘hub’ city.

• Availability to work weekends.

• Candidates must be authorized for employment in the U.S. by any employer.

• U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available for this role now or in the future.

• Permanent work authorization in the United States is required for this position.

• A PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with internal/external SOPs, rules, and regulations regarding Pfizer/customer interactions is preferred.

• Previous experience in Field Medical is preferred.
