Oncology Field Medical Director – Thoracic

📋 Description

• Develop and implement Medical strategies and engagement initiatives for designated customers in Michigan and Ohio.

• Stay informed about relevant therapeutic areas, disease conditions, and Pfizer products.

• Supply therapeutic area and product details to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Act as a resource for Medical Information and customer insights.

• Contribute to the Medical content strategy and carry out aligned Field Medical tactics.

• Collaborate with Medical colleagues at headquarters, Medical Information, and other Field Medical professionals.

• Provide approved medical and scientific education through various channels including live, virtual, written, and telephone communications.

• Integrate health literacy, cultural sensitivity, and patient-centeredness into Medical communications.

• Identify and engage key customer segments.

• Address unsolicited medical inquiries from healthcare professionals in accordance with Pfizer guidelines.

• Facilitate advisory boards under managerial oversight.

• Handle incoming healthcare professional inquiries through the established triage process.

• Identify potential sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials, particularly those serving under-represented patient groups.

• Offer Medical support throughout the Investigator Sponsored Research process.

• Develop therapeutic area expertise through data from congresses and disease-state literature.

• Provide leadership for assets.

• Clarify study design, methodology, data analysis, and interpretation to customers.

• Guide the territory through strategic planning, prioritization, and accountability for medical impact.

• Communicate with local Patient Advocacy Groups in collaboration with Corporate Affairs and HQ Medical Affairs.

• Deliver actionable insights on patient organizations, patient needs, treatment patterns, standards of care, and unmet data requirements.

• Participate in Medical, therapeutic area, and cross-functional asset committees.

• Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs with clinical and professional associations and societies.

• Mentor onboarding partners, advisory board leads, and study leads.

• Engage in special projects as required.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in a health science is required.

• Relevant experience is necessary: PharmD/PhD with 6 years of experience, MBA/MSc with 8 years of experience, BA/BSc with 10 years of experience.

• Must currently reside in the territory: Michigan and Ohio (MI/OH).

• Recognized subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholders.

• Demonstrated diverse leadership experiences and abilities, with a capacity to influence, collaborate with peers, and create business impacts.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage multiple customer demands and handle conflicts constructively.

• Ability to manage and prioritize a large volume of projects in a remote setting.

• Capability to work within a matrixed, multi-disciplinary team.

• Agility to adapt to organizational change.

• Strong problem-solving and enterprise-wide networking skills.

• Clinical and technical expertise.

• Ability to quickly adopt and utilize new digital technologies and resources.

• Must be able to operate a Pfizer company car and frequently travel by air.

• Willingness to travel 60–80% of the time.

• Reasonable proximity to an airline hub city is required.

• Availability to work on weekends.

• Candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S. by any employer.

• Permanent work authorization in the United States is required.

• PharmD, PhD, or an equivalent terminal doctoral degree is highly preferred.

• Previous Field Medical experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with internal/external SOPs, rules, and regulations is preferred.
