On Demand Services Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Deliver network, security, and systems support to ePlus clients.

• Execute network and systems support tasks.

• Identify, troubleshoot, isolate, diagnose, and resolve network and systems issues.

• Function within a 7x24x365 team environment, exercising independent judgment during rotating shifts.

• Offer support for client end-systems, encompassing design, development, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and problem resolution.

• Ensure thorough follow-through until all issues are fully resolved.

• Maintain high-level technical expertise and stay updated with the latest computing technologies and solutions.

• Manage assigned tickets and projects, ensuring timely and accurate ticket closure.

• Keep management apprised of ongoing issues and necessary escalations.

• Adhere to internal and client processes as well as procedural modifications.

• Oversee toolkit and inventory, replacing items as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma is mandatory.

• A college degree is preferred.

• 1-2 years of experience in networking is required.

• 1-3 years of field experience is necessary.

• 1-3 years of experience in a client-facing role is essential.

• CCNA certification must be obtained upon hiring or within the first 6 months of employment.

• Experience or training with Cisco, Nortel, 3Com, Microsoft NT, Novell NetWare, or VMware is advantageous.

• Knowledge of at least two routing protocols, such as IP, IPX, EIGRP, OSPF, or RIP, is required.

• Capability to perform basic protocol analysis using a LAN analyzer.

• Understanding of WAN, LAN, interfaces, protocols, and network topology is essential.

• Familiarity with WAN and LAN concepts is necessary.

• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning abilities are a must.

• Understanding of switching concepts, including VLAN and ATM, is required.

• Experience or training with router IOS, server NOS, hardware, WAN technologies, proprietary software, and DHCP/DNS is beneficial.

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills are essential.
