This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Conduct research, write, and prepare content for distribution across all MétéoMédia platforms.
• Daily preparation and updating of content, including the creation of headlines.
• Suggest 2 to 4 headlines for each content piece intended for digital platforms and carry out necessary tests.
• Author news content for all platforms.
• Manage news content along with its associated elements.
• Monitor the daily weather situation.
• Verify sources of information to ensure timely news updates.
• Supervise the creation of graphic elements and incorporate them into pages via content management systems (CMS).
• Collect and analyze information through phone interviews, research, news wires, and user-generated content.
• Provide ongoing coverage during active weather events.
• Collaborate with team members to identify priority topics based on editorial priorities.
• Identify and highlight relevant content for users and viewers.
• Manage “active weather” alert banners on websites and applications.
• Validate content outcomes using measurement tools.
• Facilitate content exchange across MétéoMédia platforms.
• Contribute to the distribution of information on social media networks.
• Assist in preparing and updating the editorial calendar.
• Translate and edit texts as needed.
• Support the research, writing, and preparation of audiovisual content, occasionally presenting on camera.
• Fulfill any additional responsibilities and tasks related to the position.
• Provide support as needed for scheduled shifts; no minimum hours are guaranteed.
• A university degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant writing experience.
• Experience and a keen interest in science communication.
• Strong knowledge of geography, meteorology, and environmental issues.
• Excellent proficiency in written French.
• Bilingual (French/English) is required.
• Exceptional editorial judgment.
• Outstanding writing and research abilities.
• Good understanding of the Internet and enthusiasm for new media.
• Strong knowledge of and capability to utilize interactive communication tools and social media.
• Proficient in navigating a computer environment.
• Demonstrated initiative.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Flexibility regarding work schedule.
