OFAC Sanctions Screening Analyst II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the main escalation contact for intricate OFAC screening alerts related to customers, transactions, and counterparties.

• Execute in-depth investigations of escalated potential matches utilizing customer data, transaction trends, beneficial ownership structures, and identifying details.

• Conduct enhanced due diligence research leveraging internal systems, public records, commercial databases, and specialized investigative resources.

• Review and sanction complex false-positive dispositions, ensuring that supporting documentation adheres to quality standards.

• Make final judgments on confirmed matches and true-positive hits, coordinating necessary actions with the BSA Officer and senior management.

• Oversee the escalation queue and provide coverage during high-volume periods to meet regulatory timelines.

• Keep track of OFAC list updates and changes to the sanctions program, ensuring timely rescreening.

• Facilitate blocked property reporting and documentation for rejected transactions for submission to OFAC.

• Contribute to enhancements of the sanctions program and its long-term strategy.

• Offer subject-matter expertise and guidance to junior Analysts.

• Collaborate with operations, relationship management, and customer-facing staff on escalated issues.

• Lead or take part in team meetings and training sessions.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, International Relations, Political Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field is required.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in OFAC sanctions compliance or screening operations, with proven experience in managing escalated or complex cases.

• Experience in banking or financial services is required.

• CAMS or CGSS certification is preferred.

• Proven knowledge of OFAC sanctions regulations, country-based and list-based programs, general licenses, beneficial ownership structures, and interdiction principles.

• Superior analytical and investigative skills with a demonstrated capacity to resolve complex, ambiguous cases.

• Exceptional attention to accuracy and quality.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and internet research.

• Ability to work autonomously, prioritize competing demands, and provide guidance to less experienced team members.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex findings to diverse audiences, including senior management.

• Capability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

• Ability to work effectively under time constraints while maintaining quality.
