Nurse Practitioner – National After-Hours Team, Part Time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Deliver compassionate telephonic support and clinical guidance during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Act as the primary support for residents and facility staff during after-hours.

• Offer medical direction and care via phone consultations.

• Utilize Curana’s telephonic platform for making and receiving calls.

• Coordinate care across facilities, hospitals, and clinics.

• Provide high-quality, cost-effective care for acute, chronic, and behavioral health needs in collaboration with physicians and specialty providers.

• Conduct a minimum of 30% of telehealth visits, including assessments of acute changes, falls, and controlled substance consultations.

• Independently manage high call volumes and multiple calls across various states.

• Carry out comprehensive assessments and document encounters accurately in the EMR, ensuring compliance with CMS requirements.

• Implement clinical protocols and practice guidelines to facilitate safe treatment when possible.

• Engage in mandatory education and training sessions.

• Provide 24 hours of on-call coverage weekly on a predetermined schedule.

• Cover weeknight shifts, alternate weekends, overnight shifts, and holidays.

• Complete two 12-hour shifts during holidays each year.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's Degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Current unrestricted NP license in Iowa, Missouri, or Ohio; must possess licensure in at least two of these states for consideration.

• Capability to secure additional multi-state licenses, including those for Illinois, Kansas, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner, such as ANP, FNP, or GNP.

• Ability to obtain DEA licensure / Prescriptive Authority.

• Experience in managing acute and chronic diseases.

• Clinical expertise in adult, family, or geriatrics.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Ability to establish a collaborative practice agreement, if required in your state(s).

• Willingness to adhere to scheduled shifts according to scheduling policies.

• Proficient in computer skills, including documentation of medical information via written and electronic medical records.

• Experience in a nursing home or with seniors in an acute care setting is preferred.

• Familiarity with geriatrics, chronic illness, and acute disease management is preferred.

• Understanding of advanced illness and end-of-life discussions is preferred.

• Ability to cultivate and maintain positive customer relationships is preferred.

• Adaptability to change is preferred.
