This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct and document evaluations of design basis accidents and events beyond the design basis.
• Develop and implement nuclear safety analysis techniques and codes to assess reactivity control, core reactions, and system performance under atypical conditions.
• Analyze radiological impacts of accident scenarios in coordination with health physics.
• Contribute to both probabilistic and deterministic safety assessments for design choices and regulatory submissions.
• Assist in the creation of safety analysis reports, technical specifications, and licensing foundation documentation.
• Prepare licensing submissions and address NRC and DOE inquiries for additional information.
• Interpret 10 CFR Part 50/52 regulations and convert them into safety analysis inputs and design suggestions.
• Ensure traceability between safety analysis assumptions, design inputs, and licensing commitments.
• Collaborate with reactor design, health physics, licensing teams, external consultants, and national laboratory partners.
• Foster a proactive nuclear safety culture throughout engineering, licensing, and field operations.
• 7–10 years of pertinent nuclear safety analysis or accident analysis experience in a regulated nuclear setting.
• Practical experience in conducting accident analyses, including evaluations of design basis accidents.
• Proficiency with nuclear safety analysis codes and methodologies such as MELCOR, RADTRAD, SCALE, ORIGEN, or similar tools.
• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Comprehensive understanding of reactor physics and safety analysis principles.
• Familiarity with radiological consequence evaluations.
• Excellent technical writing abilities for producing clear and defensible regulatory documents.
• Must qualify as a U.S. person eligible to comply with DOE Export Control regulations under 10 CFR 810.
• Capability to work independently in a remote-first, cross-functional setting with senior stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel domestically for approximately 20% of the time.
• Experience in commercial nuclear power plants, SMR, Gen IV, first-of-a-kind reactors, NRC/DOE licensing, nuclear QA, PRA, engineering software, AI-enabled platforms, or startups is preferred.
