Network Security Appliance Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Set up, deploy, maintain, and enhance enterprise security appliances, such as firewalls, IPS/IDS, load balancers, and VPN concentrators.

• Guarantee appliance performance, availability, and health across various sites and cloud environments.

• Create, implement, audit, and review firewall and IPS/IDS policies and configurations.

• Monitor logs and alerts, react to security incidents, and identify potential threats.

• Design and manage application load balancing to ensure high availability, effective traffic distribution, and performance enhancement.

• Configure and provide support for site-to-site and remote-access VPNs.

• Oversee network and security devices, investigate incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, and apply preventive measures.

• Deploy and manage security appliances, WAFs, and VPNs within AWS and Azure hybrid-cloud environments.

• Develop and sustain Python, Bash, and PowerShell scripts for automation, backups, and reporting purposes.

• Keep appliance documentation, SOPs, and change logs up to date.

• Ensure adherence to ISO, PCI, GDPR, and internal security standards.

• Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, and ServiceDesk teams on network-security initiatives.

• Offer escalation support and knowledge transfer to IT personnel.

• Conduct security assessments and vulnerability evaluations.

• Suggest and apply security best practices, technologies, and process enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in managing network security appliances, firewalls, and load balancers in enterprise or cloud environments.

• Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper, and Check Point firewalls.

• Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting F5 and Citrix ADC load balancers.

• Strong understanding of IPS/IDS systems and their integration into network architecture.

• Experience with AWS and Azure cloud security as well as cloud-native security appliances.

• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and VLANs.

• Familiarity with IPSec and SSL VPNs, access control, and secure remote access solutions.

• Experience with network monitoring, management, and automation tools.

• Strong skills in Python, Bash, and PowerShell scripting and automation.

• Understanding of ISO, PCI, GDPR, and other regulatory standards.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

• Effective communication and documentation skills.

• Preferred: PCNSE, Fortinet NSE, F5 Certified BIG-IP Admin, CCNA/CCNP Security, CompTIA Security+, or similar certifications.

• Preferred: experience with Zero Trust, WAFs, DDoS mitigation, secure hybrid and multi-cloud networks, B2B/B2C environments, Ansible, or Terraform.
