This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, assign tasks, and coordinate a team of 1 to 2 Network Installation Technicians from deployment through to installation completion.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and activation of telecommunications equipment and associated components.
• Execute infrastructure installation and de-installation tasks, including racks and ironwork.
• Manage cable terminations, cleaning, testing, and grounding processes.
• Utilize baseline equipment connectivity diagrams to address site-specific connectivity issues.
• Liaise with Test and Acceptance personnel to guarantee remote access to network devices.
• Install networking hardware and software components, including pre-commissioning hardware with foundational configurations.
• Conduct circuit wiring, inspection, testing, and activation procedures.
• Decommission and remove network nodes as needed.
• Handle completion reports and status updates accompanied by detailed network configuration documentation.
• Install routers, servers, patch panels, cryptographic materials, switches, firewalls, and timing and synchronization equipment.
• Perform optical testing, including fiber optic characterization using OTDR, PMD, and CD.
• Analyze test results, identify potential issues, and propose solutions.
• Mentor and train junior staff members.
• Carry out installations of varying sizes with minimal supervision.
• A High School Diploma is mandatory.
• Minimum of six years of experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, or construction of various types of telecommunications or electronic equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Completion of an accredited vocational or technical program in telecommunications or a related field may be accepted as a substitute for the required experience as part of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Over 6 years of experience in network infrastructure development, including mounting telecommunications hardware, and cable/fiber installation, terminations, and testing.
• More than 6 years of experience in installing network routers, servers, patch panels, cryptographic materials, switches, firewalls, timing and synchronization devices, and communications equipment.
• Prior hands-on experience with Juniper, Cisco, Ciena 6500, Ciena RLS, and Ciena Wave Server products.
• Familiarity with ANSI/TIA standards is essential.
• Preference for candidates with experience in DOD/DISA IT network environments.
• Strong preference for candidates with backgrounds in Juniper, Cisco, and Ciena devices.
• Understanding of supervisory practices and principles, with the ability to supervise and guide the work of others.
• Capability to work independently or as a team leader.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, VISIO, and Word) for reporting, redlining, and communication with upper management.
• Active Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
• Candidates may be located anywhere in the US but must be willing to travel at least 70% to CONUS and OCONUS locations as required.
• Physical ability to type, communicate via telephone, and sit for prolonged durations.
• Capability to lift or lower objects from one level to another (including upward pulling) weighing over 50lbs.
• A Bachelor’s Degree or higher is preferred but not mandatory.
• BICSI Certification is a plus.
• OEM networking certifications, particularly in Ciena 6500, RLS, and Waveserver, are preferred.
