This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Deliver direct network engineering assistance across various projects.
• Develop network diagrams, data-flow diagrams, IP address plans, port and protocol matrices, and interface-control documentation.
• Aid in converting network diagrams and requirements into functional solutions.
• Configure and troubleshoot routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, SD-WAN, SATCOM, cellular, terrestrial WAN, wireless, and tactical-radio interfaces.
• Support the integration of technologies from diverse vendors into a cohesive network.
• Implement and maintain tactical networks during field demonstrations, exercises, operational assessments, new-equipment fielding, and other client events.
• Diagnose basic networking problems in both lab and field environments.
• Resolve connectivity, DNS, authentication, and performance challenges using packet captures, system logs, and standard diagnostic tools.
• Act as the initial point of contact for everyday project network issues and escalate design-level or complex challenges to Principal or Senior Engineers.
• Manage multiple simultaneous projects and prioritize tasks according to business and project requirements.
• Active Secret clearance is required (interim clearance is acceptable).
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• At least two years of experience in network engineering, cybersecurity engineering, information assurance, or a similar technical field.
• Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, network engineering, systems engineering, or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with SD-WAN.
• Capability to work independently on routine, previously designed tasks.
• Experience in configuring TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, wireless networking, and enterprise network services.
• Background in system integration.
• Willingness to travel to project locations as necessary (approximately up to 25 percent).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a desire to learn from senior engineering personnel.
• Ability to acquire a security clearance if required for an assigned project.
• Preferred: CompTIA Network+ or Security+ certification.
• Preferred: CCNA or an equivalent vendor certification.
• Preferred: Basic understanding of the Linux operating system.
• Preferred: Basic exposure to scripting or automation (Python, Bash, or similar).
• Preferred: Familiarity with packet capture and log review tools (e.g., Wireshark).
• Preferred: Knowledge of Zero Trust architectures and principles.
• Preferred: Experience in military or government civilian roles related to tactical communications, cybersecurity, or network operations.
