This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take ownership of the design, integration, and testing of broadband access systems.
• Transform architectural drawings into functional IP network solutions and comprehensive customer installation and integration plans.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for customer projects.
• Convey solution requirements to internal teams and clients, offer technical guidance, and manage tasks from start to finish.
• Assist clients with lab integration, testing, qualification, field trials, and production rollouts of the access network platform.
• Educate clients on system operations and troubleshooting techniques.
• Evaluate new software and hardware, documenting and tracking defects for engineering teams.
• Deliver both on-site and remote technical support.
• Identify and resolve customer issues, escalating to Harmonic's 24/7 Technical Assistance Center when necessary.
• Facilitate the rollout of broadband solutions from initial pre-sales interactions to full production deployment.
• Report directly to the Director of Broadband System Integration.
• Collaborate with key customer accounts across North American time zones.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Over 5 years of experience in integrating, testing, or operating networks within an internet service provider or telecommunications setting.
• Proficient in IP routing (BGP, OSPF), Layer 2 technologies (VLAN/802.1Q, QinQ, LACP, MSTP), network overlays (VXLAN, MPLS), IP multicast (IGMP, PIM), and vBNG functions (subscriber management, PPPoE/IPoE, QoS enforcement), with skills in design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Strong Linux networking capabilities with the ability to diagnose routing, interfaces, packet captures, firewalls, tunnels, timing, and performance challenges.
• Experience with Wireshark or similar tools for packet and protocol analysis.
• Capability to comprehend technical documentation, including network protocol standards and RFCs, software and hardware configuration manuals, schematics, work instructions, and testing procedures.
• Proficiency in developing and presenting technical solutions to both customers and internal teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities.
• Must possess business-level fluency in English, both written and verbal.
• Familiarity with service provider network and service design is advantageous.
• Knowledge of PON technologies and BBF network architecture standards (e.g., TR-101, TR-156, TR-178) is a plus.
• Awareness of the OMCI protocol (ITU-T G.988) is considered a bonus.
• Experience with cloud-based (Kubernetes) networking is advantageous.
• Background in pre-sales technical support, including product demonstrations and feasibility assessments, is a plus.
