Network Design and System Integration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Assist in the rollout of broadband solutions from the initial pre-sales stages to production deployment.

• Take responsibility for the design, integration, and testing of broadband access systems.

• Transform architectural diagrams into functional IP network solutions along with comprehensive customer installation and integration plans.

• Serve as the primary technical liaison for customer projects.

• Convey solution requirements to internal teams and clients while providing technical guidance.

• Facilitate client lab integration, testing, qualification, field trials, and production rollouts of the access network platform.

• Educate clients on system operation and troubleshooting techniques.

• Evaluate new software and hardware, documenting and tracking defects for engineering review.

• Deliver both on-site and remote technical support.

• Identify and resolve customer issues, escalating them through Harmonic's 24/7 Technical Assistance Center as necessary.

• Report to the Director of Broadband System Integration.

• Collaborate on significant customer accounts within North American time zones.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.

• Over 5 years of experience in integrating, testing, or operating networks within an internet service provider or telecommunications setting.

• Familiarity with service provider network and service design is advantageous.

• In-depth knowledge of IP routing (BGP, OSPF), Layer 2 technologies (VLAN/802.1Q, QinQ, LACP, MSTP), network overlays (VXLAN, MPLS), IP multicast (IGMP, PIM), and vBNG functions (subscriber management, PPPoE/IPoE, QoS enforcement), including design, configuration, and troubleshooting.

• Proficient in Linux networking with the ability to troubleshoot routing, interfaces, packet captures, firewalls, tunnels, timing, and performance issues.

• Experience using Wireshark or similar tools for packet and protocol analysis.

• Knowledge of PON technologies and BBF network architecture standards (TR-101, TR-156, TR-178) is a plus.

• Familiarity with the OMCI protocol (ITU-T G.988) is considered a nice-to-have bonus.

• Experience with cloud-based Kubernetes networking is advantageous.

• Capacity to comprehend technical documentation, network protocol standards and RFCs, configuration guides, schematics, work instructions, and test processes.

• Ability to develop and present technical solutions to clients and internal teams.

• Prior experience in pre-sales technical support, including product demonstrations and feasibility assessments, is a plus.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities.

• Proficient in business-level English, both written and spoken, is required.
