National Bureau Chief

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with regional bureau chiefs to determine priorities and create a daily schedule of stories.

• Monitor affiliate publications for business and economic coverage with potential national impact.

• Supervise reporters in Ontario and Quebec focusing on regional economies, including the automotive sector and critical minerals.

• Establish coverage priorities, generate story ideas, assign and guide daily reporting, and provide editorial oversight.

• Contribute to video, podcast, and multimedia initiatives.

• Develop and manage editorial products such as newsletters and in-person events.

• Uphold editorial standards for accuracy, fairness, insight, and relevance.

• Create national editorial franchises that focus on Canadian business and the economy.

• Support the senior editorial team with newsroom management and strategic priorities.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of five years of experience in a daily newsroom environment.

• Preferably, a background in business, financial, or economic journalism.

• Exceptional news judgment.

• Strong writing and editing capabilities.

• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under tight deadlines.

• Comfortable with covering breaking news, daily analysis, explanatory journalism, enterprise reporting, and long-form features.

• Solid understanding of Canadian business and economic landscape.

• Effective collaborative leadership skills.
