This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Collaborate with regional bureau chiefs to determine priorities and create a daily schedule of stories.
• Monitor affiliated publications for business and economic content with potential appeal to a national audience.
• Guide reporters in Ontario and Quebec who cover regional economies, including sectors like automotive and critical minerals.
• Establish coverage priorities, generate story ideas, assign and oversee daily stories, and provide editing support.
• Contribute to video, podcast, and multimedia projects.
• Develop and manage editorial products such as newsletters and in-person events.
• Uphold editorial standards for accuracy, fairness, insight, and relevance.
• Build national editorial franchises alongside regional bureau chiefs and senior editors.
• Participate in newsroom leadership and editorial supervision.
• A minimum of five years of experience in a daily newsroom environment.
• Preferably a background in business, financial, or economic journalism.
• Exceptional news judgment.
• Ability to swiftly identify stories, trends, and developments that are relevant to readers.
• Strong writing and editing abilities.
• Capability to work efficiently and accurately under tight deadlines.
• Comfortable working across various formats including breaking news, daily analysis, explanatory journalism, enterprise reporting, and long-form features.
• Strong understanding of the Canadian business landscape and economy.
• Collaborative leadership skills.
