National Account Manager – Heart Failure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Execute strategic engagement strategies at designated accounts to ensure comprehensive product coverage and access for a leading heart failure therapy.

• Recognize opportunities and emerging trends that foster mutually beneficial partnerships and enhance patient access to care.

• Achieve established goals through interactions with targeted accounts, key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers, and administrators.

• Educate and collaborate with key decision-makers to enhance product knowledge and utilization.

• Regularly interact and collaborate with various departments and client stakeholders.

• Meet or surpass established objectives and expense-plan targets by crafting and executing account-specific strategies.

• Co-lead the development and implementation of Strategic Account Plans alongside Commercial Leadership.

• Facilitate pull-through at payer accounts through regular calls and meetings.

• Utilize value-based healthcare commercial resources to improve care and boost the adoption of comprehensive care measures.

• Participate in or co-lead cross-functional market meetings centered on account/customer profiling, performance engagement, and accountability.

• Collaborate with National and Regional Health Plans, Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicaid Plans, Part D Sponsors, PBMs, and Formulary Managers.

• Exhibit peer leadership with local field teams, cross-functional partners, and internal leadership.

• Enhance engagement between client stakeholders at targeted accounts.

• Create strategic engagement opportunities with KOLs within assigned customers.

• Maintain proactive communication with internal and external customer stakeholders.

• Collect insights from aligned Centers and communicate information to Commercial Leadership and the broader organization.

• Align disease-state and therapeutic initiatives with ongoing sales and marketing strategies.

• Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews.

• Utilize data to prioritize opportunities, support planning and execution, influence decisions, drive business development, and address customer-business challenges.

• Show a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is required; a degree in healthcare is highly preferred.

• At least 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical payer account management.

• Proven experience navigating complex accounts.

• Technical understanding of healthcare Medicare and commercial payer reimbursement from both patient and provider perspectives.

• Cardiology background with a working knowledge of heart failure.

• Understanding of Buy-and-Bill drug reimbursement dynamics with payers and Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs).

• Experience in product launches, preferably with small to mid-size companies.

• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

• Advanced verbal, written, and presentation capabilities.

• Strong business analytical skills.

• Ability to identify issues and formulate timely, compliant recommendations.

• Knowledge of current and future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information impacting the business and organization.

• Ability to articulate scientific and clinical aspects of disease education and management, mechanism of action, treatment prescribing information, and related subjects.

• Expert collaboration with cross-functional partners, including marketing, training, operations, and medical teams.

• Familiarity with legal and regulatory environments.

• Capability to manage others to ensure compliant operations.

• Willingness to travel approximately 30%-60% of the time; overnight travel is necessary.

• Proficient in sales support technology, such as Salesforce/Veeva.
