Multimedia Journalist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Report and compose articles, as well as capture photographs, for both digital and print audiences.

• Customize content to meet the diverse requirements of digital and print platforms.

• Generate local story concepts on a daily basis and adapt swiftly to the priorities of the newsroom.

• Utilize social media and digital tools to discover breaking news and real-time local interests.

• Build relationships with sources to uncover stories and assist in shaping the news agenda.

• Submit video clips for digital platforms.

• Collaborate with digital teams to produce interactive content and multimedia components.

⛳️ Requirements

• Graduate from a journalism program or a related field.

• Experience in a newsroom is advantageous.

• Capability to rapidly assess and prioritize tasks while adapting to a learning curve.

• Proficiency in writing effectively for breaking news, features, short-form articles, explainers, and Q&As.

• Interest in explanatory journalism with the ability to reveal hidden angles of stories.

• Skill in succinctly articulating the significance and relevance of stories.

• Experience and expertise in video or podcast presentation is a plus.

• A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are considered assets.
