Journalist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Create content for web, mobile, and various other platforms

• Develop daily story concepts and adapt to newsroom priorities

• Utilize social media and digital resources to identify breaking news and real-time reader interests

• Build relationships with sources to uncover stories and influence the news agenda

• Work alongside digital teams to produce interactive text, photo, video, podcast, and multimedia content

• Report on a diverse array of news topics and other subjects under tight deadlines

• Be available to work on weekends and statutory holidays as required

⛳️ Requirements

• Student or graduate from a journalism program, or from a related field

• Capability to quickly prioritize and layer newsroom tasks

• Willingness to engage in breaking news, features, short-form content, and non-traditional storytelling formats

• Strong curiosity and ability to uncover hidden story angles

• Skill in conveying news meaning concisely

• Experience and proficiency in video, podcast presentation, and other digital tools is an advantage

• A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are beneficial

• Bilingualism in English and French is a plus

• Only applicants legally permitted to work in Canada will be considered

• Application must include a cover letter, résumé, three samples of published work (if available), and at least two signed references
