This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Generate and compose articles for both digital and print audiences.
• Capture photographs to accompany stories.
• Adapt content to meet the distinct requirements of digital and print platforms.
• Create local story ideas on a daily basis.
• Be prepared to quickly shift focus to different newsroom priorities as they arise.
• Utilize social media and digital tools to discover breaking news and the real-time interests of London residents.
• Build relationships with sources to uncover stories and help shape the news agenda.
• Submit video clips for digital platforms.
• Collaborate with digital teams to develop interactive content and multimedia elements.
• Adhere to tight deadlines while producing clear, concise, and engaging content.
• Graduate from a journalism program or a related field.
• Previous experience in a newsroom is an advantage.
• Capability to quickly assess and prioritize tasks and adapt to a steep learning curve.
• Proficient in writing effectively for breaking news, feature articles, short forms, explainers, and Q&As.
• Genuine interest in working within a daily newsroom environment.
• Skill in uncovering hidden story angles and developing explanatory journalism abilities.
• Ability to succinctly express the significance and relevance of stories.
• Experience and proficiency in video or podcast presentation are considered advantageous.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle are beneficial.
• Submission of a resume, cover letter, and work samples is required for the application.
