Mortgage Loan Originator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Generate mortgage loans within a designated metropolitan area

• Handle mortgage loan applications

• Perform initial underwriting assessments

• Submit loan applications for processing and approval

• Follow up to obtain necessary documents for processing, underwriting, and closing

• Promote loan sales and engage in sales-related activities outside of U.S. Bank locations

• Allocate at least 50% of work time to activities conducted away from U.S. Bank locations

• Drive for 2 or more hours each week

⛳️ Requirements

• Registration with the National Mortgage Licensing Service (NMLS) as per the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z

• Continuous adherence to all legal or regulatory registration obligations, including maintaining a satisfactory criminal and credit history

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Mortgage, Sales, or Real Estate

• Self-motivated, with exceptional sales skills and the ability to work autonomously

• Established network of referrals within the assigned market

• Comprehensive understanding of pricing and underwriting criteria from various mortgage insurance firms

• Working knowledge of underwriting standards for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors

• Awareness of local, state, and national regulations, including zoning laws, Truth-in-Lending, RESPA, and energy audit mandates

• Strong communication abilities and proficiency in analyzing financial data

• Over 2 years of demonstrated success in mortgage loan origination, consistently achieving or surpassing production targets

• Capability to drive for 2 or more hours each week

• Ability to adhere to U.S. Bank policies and procedures, including the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, as well as workplace conduct and safety standards
