Mortgage Loan Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Generate and nurture a pipeline of mortgage loan prospects through outreach, networking, and marketing efforts.

• Build and sustain relationships with real estate professionals and potential borrowers.

• Assess borrower financial data to determine creditworthiness and eligibility for mortgages.

• Provide clients with information regarding mortgage products, rates, and lending guidelines.

• Oversee the loan process from the application stage to closing.

• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely and accurate closings.

• Maintain communication with borrowers and request necessary documentation throughout the loan lifecycle.

• Ensure documentation complies with regulatory standards and credit union policies.

• Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and available product offerings.

• Promote additional credit union services to members.

• Represent Deseret First Credit Union in a professional and ethical manner.

• Market mortgage loans by clearly explaining and communicating the credit union’s loan products and services.


⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• An Associate degree or specialized training is preferred.

• A minimum of 1–3 years of experience is required, ideally 2–5 years in a mortgage loan officer or similar capacity.

• Proven track record as a Mortgage Loan Officer or in a comparable role.

• Demonstrated success in generating independent business is preferred.

• Comprehensive knowledge of mortgage products, lending regulations, and compliance standards.

• Exceptional skills in communication, negotiation, and interpersonal relations.

• Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple clients and deadlines independently.

• Self-driven with an entrepreneurial mindset.

• Capability to work remotely without direct oversight.

• An active NMLS number is required.

• Proficiency in basic word processing and computer skills is necessary.

• Ability to read and interpret real estate purchase contracts, loan program guidelines, tax returns, income documentation, credit reports, and preliminary title reports.

• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

• Effective time management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Familiarity with Encompass Software is advantageous.
