This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Assume complete, end-to-end responsibility for the BusPlanner mobile application suite.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance driver, attendant, and parent applications for both Android and iOS platforms utilizing .NET MAUI.
• Generate builds, oversee signing and provisioning, publish to the Apple App Store and Google Play, and facilitate releases through the review and rollout process.
• Architect and implement backend REST APIs in C# and .NET to support mobile applications.
• Integrate ruggedized Android tablets, including the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5, with RFID readers, QR and barcode scanners, USB devices, and mounting and power systems.
• Manage the push notification and messaging pipeline for drivers, attendants, and parents.
• Investigate and address production issues reported from the field across the mobile portfolio and its supporting services.
• Contribute to ridership and scanning features, GPS and live tracking, dispatch, BusPlanner Web, and other products within the student transportation ecosystem.
• Establish the development environment, run applications locally, deliver bug fixes, and independently manage releases and associated API work.
• 4-6 years of professional experience in mobile development, with a minimum of 2-3 years focused on building and deploying production apps using .NET MAUI.
• Proven .NET MAUI development experience with successfully shipped production applications.
• Strong C# programming skills, with the capability to independently design and develop backend REST APIs in .NET.
• Comprehensive mobile lifecycle experience, including build configuration, code signing, provisioning, store submission, and release management for both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
• Experience in integrating mobile applications with physical hardware and peripherals, such as scanners, readers, USB or Bluetooth devices, or similar technologies.
• An AI-first, Claude-first mindset towards development, utilizing AI tools for design, building, testing, and debugging.
• Ability to work independently within a small team, taking a project from vague request to completed release.
• Experience with React Native and/or Progressive Web Apps.
• Proficiency in DevOps practices, including build and release pipelines, environment setup, and deployment automation for server-based software.
• Familiarity with Android device management, kiosk or dedicated-device deployments, or fleet-provisioned tablets.
• Background in fleet management, transportation, telematics, GPS, or logistics software.
• Experience working with both self-hosted and cloud-hosted deployments of the same product.
