Mission Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Develop and uphold high-fidelity system models within Spacetime to manage dynamic wireless communication networks.

• Create and implement production-ready adapter layers, mainly using Python or Go, to link Spacetime with customer hardware.

• Construct and refine data schemas utilizing Protobuf, JSON, and gRPC to represent intricate external network topologies.

• Conduct link budget analyses for wireless communication systems, wave propagation modeling, and coverage simulations.

• Serve as the tier-3 escalation point for live networks, identifying and resolving complex system integration challenges.

• Collaborate with Product and Software Engineering teams to convert custom integration patterns into reusable product functionalities.

• Act as the technical liaison between communications physics and the software orchestration layer.

• Ensure that Spacetime system models are technically integrated, high-performing, and operationally resilient in live customer environments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong fundamentals in software engineering combined with a solid grasp of physical-layer communications.

• Practical software development experience.

• Comfort in passing an entry-level SWE coding assessment.

• Familiarity with wireless communication systems, including RF path loss, propagation, network topology, and link budgets.

• Hands-on experience in developing or using system/network simulation and modeling tools.

• B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, typically supported by 3+ years of professional engineering experience.

• Preferred experience with software-defined networking (SDN), BGP, or cloud infrastructure environments (GCP/AWS).

• Preferred experience in delivering high-stakes technical integrations for defense, aerospace, or commercial telecommunications enterprise clients.

• Must qualify as a U.S. person and be eligible to access export-controlled information without requiring export authorization, or be eligible and reasonably likely to obtain the necessary export authorization.
