This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy tailored middleware solutions, integration proxies, protocol translators, and adapter components.
• Create custom connectors, REST and SOAP APIs, scripts, and integration libraries to connect non-standard applications with Okta and SailPoint IdentityIQ.
• Evaluate legacy application architectures, authentication methods, and data flows to formulate integration strategies utilizing SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SCIM.
• Develop reusable integration libraries, sample code repositories, and middleware components.
• Collaborate with migration engineers on application triage, middleware feasibility assessments, integration pathways, risk registers, and gap analyses.
• Provide technical guidance and engineering support to application owners.
• Design and implement automated provisioning and deprovisioning workflows, SCIM endpoints, directory synchronization scripts, and lifecycle management hooks.
• Create RBAC and ABAC solutions, encompassing attribute mapping, claims transformation, and enforcement of authorization policies.
• Contribute middleware components and integration accelerators to self-service and automated enablement tools.
• Conduct unit, integration, and security testing prior to deployment.
• Support the development of test plans, technical integration tests, UAT events, defect diagnosis, and resolution.
• Ensure compliance with DFARS 239.73 supply chain risk management requirements.
• Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, data flow diagrams, API specifications, deployment guides, and operational runbooks.
• Contribute to middleware engineering standards, coding best practices, reusable component libraries, and integration playbooks.
• Ensure adherence to Section 508 and DoD security requirements, including CUI handling, OPSEC, and DFARS 252.204-7012.
• Stay informed about middleware technologies, identity integration patterns, and DoD Zero Trust requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in software or systems engineering, including at least 3 years focused on middleware development, API engineering, or enterprise application integration.
• Proven experience in designing and developing custom integration solutions, including REST APIs, SOAP web services, protocol adapters, or middleware components in a production enterprise environment.
• Experience with application integration to enterprise identity platforms using SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, or SCIM.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Capability to meet requirements for CAC-card issuance and NIPRNet access.
• Completion of annual DoD CyberAwareness training and certification.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Python, JavaScript, Node.js, C#, or PowerShell.
• Practical experience in developing and consuming REST APIs and SOAP web services.
• Hands-on implementation experience with SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SCIM.
• Experience in analyzing and reverse-engineering legacy application authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Familiarity with Okta and SailPoint IdentityIQ (IIQ).
• Experience with LDAP, Active Directory, and SCIM-based directory synchronization.
• Proficiency in Git, including branching strategies, code review processes, and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience in implementing secure coding practices.
• Ability to conduct unit testing, integration testing, and security-focused code reviews.
• Strong technical documentation skills.
• Familiarity with DoD security requirements, including CUI handling, OPSEC, DFARS 252.204-7012, DFARS 239.73, and DoDM 8140.03.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required DoD cybersecurity certifications per DoDM 8140.03, such as Security+ for IAT II or equivalent.
