This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Deliver tailored course content for 6th grade ELA in a virtual setting.
• Provide instruction, support, and guidance while overseeing the learning process.
• Concentrate on the individual needs of students and customize their learning experiences.
• Monitor student progress using Stride K12’s learning management system.
• Collaborate closely with students and their parents/learning coaches to further educational goals.
• Facilitate both synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities.
• Differentiate instruction based on students' mastery levels.
• Enhance course content with approved synchronous and asynchronous tools under the guidance of the principal and coach.
• Maintain the grade book and uphold student academic integrity.
• Make decisions regarding student placement and promotion.
• Notify administrators of any concerns related to student performance and progress.
• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.
• Establish and nurture positive relationships with families.
• Communicate with and promptly respond to students and learning coaches/parents.
• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues.
• Travel approximately once a month and/or 20% of the time for professional development, student testing, and other school obligations.
• North Carolina Middle School ELA Teaching Certification or an Elementary K-6 certification.
• Out-of-state candidates must possess a North Carolina teaching certification.
• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Active state teaching license is necessary.
• Ability to pass the required background check.
• Position is available to residents in North Carolina or border states within a 30-mile radius.
• Capacity to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week.
• Ability to maintain a professional home office without distractions during work hours, typically from 9 AM to 5 PM or 8 AM to 4 PM.
• Experience working with the specified age group is preferred.
• Experience assisting adults and children with technology is advantageous.
• Previous experience teaching online/virtually and/or in traditional settings is desirable.
• Familiarity with online learning platforms is preferred.
• Ability to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data to inform instructional decisions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Capability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.
