Merchandise Planner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +14 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee assigned product categories to meet sales, profitability, and inventory-turn objectives while optimizing working capital.

• Evaluate category and item performance data to enhance category efficiency and support corporate goals.

• Manage Open-To-Buy (OTB) inventory and provide insights regarding inventory flows at the category level.

• Forecast, analyze, and manage product demand to optimize inventory levels and fulfill customer needs.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align forecasts, understand the effects of promotions, and modify inventory strategies.

• Utilize demand and supply planning tools to ensure precise forecasting and support anticipated demand with internal teams and vendors.

• Perform sales, margin, and profitability analysis to identify trends and enhance category performance.

• Generate ad-hoc analyses to assist in decision-making and guide senior leadership.

• Formulate inventory replenishment and allocation strategies in partnership with Category Managers.

• Monitor product assortment, manage individual item performance, and ensure efficient inventory turnover.

• Engage in monthly performance meetings with data-driven insights and suggestions.

• Coordinate with imports, quality control, product compliance, and trade compliance teams.

• Develop capacity forecasts and collaborate with vendors to satisfy projected demand.

• Tackle overstock, closeout items, and inventory flow issues.

• Produce regular reports on inventory status, sales performance, and forecasting accuracy.

• Foster communication across teams to encourage data sharing and transparency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related discipline.

• 3+ years of relevant work experience.

• Experience in demand forecasting/planning and inventory analysis.

• Excellent critical thinking and analytical capabilities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Solid business acumen.

• Proficiency in collaboration, influencing, problem-solving, and driving performance through effective execution skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks with keen attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills.

• Familiarity with automated demand and supply planning software.

• APICS certification is a plus.
