Mental Health Therapist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Deliver empathetic, evidence-based mental health therapy to children, adolescents, and adults through a secure virtual-first platform.

• Foster strong therapeutic relationships while supporting a diverse range of patient populations.

• Perform comprehensive assessments of behavioral, emotional, and mental health needs.

• Create personalized treatment plans that align with client goals.

• Offer evidence-based individual and family therapy utilizing modalities such as CBT and DBT.

• Provide care exclusively through telehealth services.

• Monitor client progress and modify treatment plans as necessary.

• Keep accurate and timely clinical documentation, including progress notes and treatment outcomes.

• Collaborate with primary care physicians, psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, social workers, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.

• Communicate treatment plans, progress, and recommendations to clients, families, and stakeholders.

• Offer crisis intervention and support to clients in acute distress.

• Develop safety plans and strategies to prevent or alleviate crises.

• Educate clients and families on mental health issues, treatment options, and coping strategies.

• Work collaboratively in a virtual setting with clinical leadership, psychiatrists, and PMHNPs to provide coordinated, whole-person care.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related behavioral health field.

• Active independent clinical licensure in at least one of Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia.

• A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience providing therapy to youth, adults, and individuals facing behavioral health challenges.

• Experience in treating patients aged 13 and older.

• Strong understanding of evidence-based therapeutic modalities and interventions.

• Excellent communication, relationship-building, documentation, and organizational abilities.

• Experience in delivering telehealth services.

• Background in working with specialized populations or treatment areas such as trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, or grief and loss.

• Familiarity with Athena One EHR and electronic health record documentation standards.

• Consistent patient volume in line with contracted hours and organizational access requirements.
