Membership Growth & Retention Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Create and execute strategies aimed at enhancing membership growth and retention through volunteer involvement.

• Organize and oversee recruitment events in designated areas around 2–3 times weekly during peak periods, either independently or in collaboration with volunteers.

• Facilitate or assist with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience until adult volunteers are adequately trained and prepared to take on their roles.

• Offer direct assistance to troops and girls as needed.

• Advocate for inclusivity and ensure that Girl Scouting is accessible to all girls and adults by engaging with community groups, organizations, and other stakeholders.

• Deliver onboarding, continuous support, supervision, conflict resolution, and guidance to volunteers.

• Clarify council policies, standards, and procedures for volunteers.

• Contribute to creating environments that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.

• Commitment to the Girl Scout mission of fostering girls with courage, confidence, and character.

• Enthusiasm for actively supporting girls’ leadership development.

• Willingness to work a minimum of 37.5 hours each week.

• Availability for evening and weekend commitments.

• Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication abilities.

• Capability to engage with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

• At least 2–3 years of relevant work experience.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to nurture, motivate, and sustain effective relationships with volunteers and staff.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

• Access to reliable transportation.

• Willingness to travel frequently within the Council area.

• High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
