Medication Access Specialist – Home Infusion

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.

📋 Description

• Oversee the medication intake process and serve as a liaison among clinic providers, clinic staff, pharmacies, and patients.

• Perform benefits investigations to assess patient coverage, out-of-pocket expenses, and available financial assistance options.

• Identify and suggest patient assistance programs, copay cards, grants, or funding opportunities.

• Collect and review documents for prior authorization submissions.

• Manage appeals for coverage denials and coordinate subsequent actions with clinic personnel.

• Communicate with clinics to gather information and guidance for prior authorization submissions.

• Engage in patient outreach regarding medication coverage and financial aid options.

• Provide recommendations for pharmacies.

• Relay coverage determinations and coordinate patient follow-ups on behalf of client clinics.

• Accurately document information in client EMR systems and Visante tracking tools.

• Assist in onboarding and training client-employed medication access specialists.

• Contribute to enhancements in processes.

• Collaborate with Visante team members and leadership, offering operational insights and feedback.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• At least three years of pharmacy experience in healthcare or with pharmacy providers focused on medication access.

• Preferred two years of healthcare revenue cycle experience, including medication authorizations and preadmission/precertification processes.

• Proficiency in retail pharmacy PBM adjudication, ensuring accurate claim processing and reimbursement.

• Familiarity with CoverMyMeds® for prior authorization submissions is preferred.

• State Board of Pharmacy Technician registration must be obtained within 2 months of the start date, if applicable based on state regulations.

• Active CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA is preferred.

• Strong judgment and decision-making capabilities.

• Ability to handle competing demands, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with urgency.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and team collaboration abilities.

• Professional and concise verbal and written communication skills.

• Expertise in medication reimbursement, prior authorization, and healthcare coding.

• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure accuracy.

• Proficient in Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
