This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Oversee the medication intake process and act as a liaison between clinic providers, clinic staff, pharmacies, and patients.
• Perform benefits investigations to ascertain patient coverage, out-of-pocket expenses, and potential financial aid.
• Identify and suggest patient assistance programs, copay cards, grants, or funding opportunities.
• Collect and assess documentation for prior authorization submissions and escalate appeals for coverage denials.
• Coordinate follow-up actions for insurance denial cases with clinic staff.
• Communicate with clinics to gather information and guidance for prior authorization requests.
• Engage in patient outreach regarding medication coverage and available financial assistance options.
• Provide recommendations for pharmacies.
• Relay coverage determinations and arrange patient follow-up on behalf of client clinics.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation in client EMR systems and Visante tracking tools.
• Assist in the onboarding and training of client-employed medication access specialists.
• Contribute to enhancements in processes.
• Collaborate with Visante team members and leadership to offer operational insights and feedback.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least three years of pharmacy experience in healthcare or with pharmacy providers focusing on medication access.
• Preferred two years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, including medication authorizations and preadmission/precertification processes.
• Proficient in retail pharmacy PBM adjudication.
• Skilled in using CoverMyMeds® for prior authorization submissions.
• State Board of Pharmacy Technician registration must be obtained within two months of the start date, as required by state law.
• Active CPhT certification through either PTCB or NHA is preferred.
• Strong judgment and decision-making abilities.
• Capable of managing multiple demands, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines with urgency.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, team collaboration, and both verbal and written communication abilities.
• Expertise in medication reimbursement, prior authorization processes, and healthcare coding.
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold accuracy.
• Proficient in Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
