Medical Science Liaison, Senior

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +6 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the field-based medical and scientific authority for Verastem Oncology.

• Engage with healthcare providers to deliver fair and balanced education regarding investigational products and relevant disease areas.

• Stay informed about the changing therapeutic environment and facilitate research collaborations.

• Build and maintain cooperative relationships with investigators, institutions, groups, and consortia.

• Enhance company visibility and engage with leaders in oncology.

• Take part in medical education for healthcare professionals and Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committees.

• Oversee necessary education and training for clinical-site personnel.

• Identify clinical research opportunities that align with the company’s goals.

• Act as the primary contact for investigator-initiated research, guiding it from concept submission to publication.

• Convey clinical and research insights to influence the company's research direction.

• Maintain clinical and scientific knowledge through ongoing training, conferences, workshops, and publications.

• Collect and share compliant competitive intelligence.

• Mentor members of the MSL team and support the cross-functional Medical Affairs team.

• Implement administrative responsibilities related to regional field activities.

• Provide medical leadership for internal cross-functional programs and projects.

• Address unsolicited medical information inquiries.

• Complete necessary reports, project plans, and documentation.

• Senior MSL: contribute to publication planning, slide development, training initiatives, and implementation of the Medical Strategy Plan.

• Senior MSL: lead national priority projects, cross-functional initiatives, and select external collaborations.

• Senior MSL: mentor or coach other MSLs and coordinate advanced training initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced Clinical or Science degree (MSN, PharmD, PhD) or equivalent professional credentials required.

• Previous experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred.

• Prior experience as an MSL or in a relevant role is strongly preferred.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in oncology, particularly in gynecologic oncology, is highly favored.

• Knowledge of relevant treatment, compliance, and regulatory guidelines.

• Exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation abilities.

• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.

• Ability to think strategically and apply both knowledge and analytical skills.

• Capability to summarize intricate scientific information and present it clearly, concisely, confidently, accurately, and in a balanced manner.

• Ability to network and collaborate with external customers, medical thought leaders, academic institutions, research consortia, and practice networks.

• Proven effective leadership skills.

• In-depth therapeutic competency and awareness of therapeutic and translational science trends.

• Senior MSL: at least five (5) years of experience in Pharmaceutical Industry Medical Affairs as an MSL.

• Senior MSL: experience with solid tumors is preferred.

• Willingness to travel up to 65% of the time.

• Familiarity with NCCN, ASCO, ESMO, and other treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, FDA regulations, CMS reimbursement coverage processes, and OIG guidelines.

• Knowledge or experience in ovarian cancer or gynecologic oncology is advantageous.

• Ability to network and collaborate with medical thought leaders, academic institutions, large group practices, NCI Cooperative Group leadership and members, medical directors, and pharmacy directors.

• Highly articulate and self-assured during both formal and informal presentations.

• Ability to fluently convey complex scientific concepts to any audience.

• Approximately 60-70% domestic travel is required.
