Medical Science Liaison, Rheumatology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Create and execute a scientific engagement strategy for the territories of South Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana.

• Build and nurture professional relationships with community and academic opinion leaders/KOLs.

• Engage in high-quality, reciprocal scientific discussions with healthcare professionals.

• Gather, synthesize, and utilize clinical, scientific, competitive, and territory-specific information.

• Utilize AI tools and insights to enhance decision-making, processes, efficiency, and outcomes.

• Observe competitors and integrate evidence-based clinical context into scientific engagement strategies.

• Present scientific data through tailored dialogues and presentations that meet healthcare professional needs.

• Identify challenges or unmet needs and recommend evidence-based solutions or educational initiatives.

• Provide actionable insights that align with the strategic priorities of the organization.

• Address unsolicited inquiries regarding Johnson & Johnson products and research.

• Assist investigators and internal partners with company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies.

• Collaborate with Medical Affairs, R&D, Clinical Operations, Sales, Marketing, and other internal stakeholders.

• Maintain scientific knowledge through self-study, journal clubs, seminars, congresses, and peer discussions.

• Promote inclusion and a sense of belonging.

• Adhere to regulatory, healthcare compliance, corporate conduct, Medical Affairs SOPs, and guidelines.

• Create a performance and development plan in conjunction with the Field Director.

• Accurately and compliantly complete administrative documentation and expense reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Doctorate-level degree or equivalent experience is mandatory (PharmD, PhD, MD, Advanced Practice Providers).

• Postgraduate experience is necessary for Doctoral level candidates, with a preference for clinical experience in a therapeutic area.

• Comprehensive scientific and/or therapeutic knowledge.

• Familiarity with research and/or health care systems.

• Expertise in data collection and analysis, clinical knowledge, problem-solving, interpersonal influence, cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and competitive landscape analysis.

• Capability to support a specific territory with up to 70% travel.

• Must possess a valid US Driver’s License.

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in an MSL role (preferred).

• At least 2 years of experience in a therapeutic area (preferred).

• Completion of a residency or fellowship (preferred).

• Board certification for clinical degrees (preferred).

• Dedication to learning and implementing emerging technologies such as AI.

• Residing in a major metropolitan area; Houston is preferred.
