Medical Science Liaison, Rheumatology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute a scientific engagement strategy that aligns with Medical Affairs goals and objectives.

• Build and nurture professional relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) in both community and academic settings.

• Facilitate high-quality, interactive scientific discussions with healthcare professionals.

• Gather, analyze, and utilize clinical, scientific, competitive, and territory-specific information.

• Utilize AI tools and insights to enhance decision-making, streamline processes, improve efficiency, and optimize outcomes.

• Stay informed about competitors and integrate evidence-based clinical context into scientific engagement strategies.

• Present scientific data through tailored dialogues and presentations that meet the needs of healthcare professionals.

• Identify unmet needs and suggest evidence-based solutions or educational programs.

• Gather and report actionable insights that inform medical strategy and interdepartmental discussions.

• Address unsolicited inquiries regarding Johnson & Johnson products and research initiatives.

• Provide support to investigators and internal stakeholders for both company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies.

• Collaborate with MSL field partners, R&D, U.S. and Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Sales, and Marketing teams.

• Maintain scientific knowledge through self-study, participation in journal clubs, seminars, conferences, and peer discussions.

• Promote a culture of inclusion and belonging.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory, healthcare, corporate, and Medical Affairs policies.

• Create and execute a performance and development plan in conjunction with the Field Director.

• Accurately and compliantly fulfill administrative duties, including activity documentation and expense reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Doctorate level degree or equivalent experience is mandatory (PharmD, PhD, MD, Advanced Practice Providers).

• Postgraduate experience is required for Doctoral level candidates, with a preference for those with clinical experience in a therapeutic area.

• Comprehensive scientific and/or therapeutic knowledge is essential.

• Familiarity with research and/or the healthcare system is necessary.

• Proficiency in data collection and analysis, clinical expertise, problem-solving, interpersonal influence, cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and competitive landscape analysis.

• Capability to support a specific territory with up to 70% travel, both within the territory and for internal meetings and conferences.

• A valid U.S. Driver’s License is required.

• At least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in an MSL role.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a therapeutic area is preferred.

• Completion of a residency or fellowship is preferred.

• Board certification for clinical degrees is preferred.

• Candidates should be located in a major metropolitan area; Charlotte, Louisville, or Indianapolis are preferred locations.

• A proven commitment to learning about emerging technologies, such as AI, is essential.
