Medical Science Liaison, Rheumatology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Design and execute a scientific engagement strategy that aligns with Medical Affairs goals and objectives.

• Build and maintain professional relationships with community and academic opinion leaders/KOLs.

• Engage in high-quality, reciprocal scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals.

• Gather, analyze, and utilize clinical, scientific, competitive, and territory-specific information.

• Utilize AI tools and insights to enhance decision-making, processes, efficiency, and outcomes.

• Monitor competitor activities and integrate evidence-based clinical context into planning and discussions.

• Present scientific data through discussions and presentations tailored to the needs of healthcare professionals.

• Identify unmet needs and suggest evidence-based solutions or educational initiatives.

• Provide timely and actionable insights to guide medical strategy and cross-functional discussions.

• Address unsolicited inquiries regarding J&J products and research.

• Assist investigators and internal partners with both company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies.

• Collaborate with MSL field partners, R&D, U.S. and Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Sales, and Marketing.

• Maintain scientific knowledge through self-study, journal clubs, seminars, congresses, and peer discussions.

• Promote inclusion and belonging both internally and externally.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory, healthcare, corporate conduct, Medical Affairs SOPs, and guidelines.

• Create and implement a performance and development plan in conjunction with the Field Director.

• Accurately and compliantly complete administrative documentation and expense reporting.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Doctorate level degree or equivalent experience is required (PharmD, PhD, MD, Advanced Practice Providers).

• Postgraduate experience is mandatory for Doctoral level candidates, preferably with therapeutic area clinical experience.

• Profound scientific and/or therapeutic knowledge.

• Knowledge of research and/or the healthcare system.

• Expertise in data collection and analysis, clinical proficiency, problem-solving, interpersonal influence, cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and competitive landscape analysis.

• Willingness to support a specific territory with up to 70% travel, both within the territory and for internal meetings and congresses.

• Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.

• 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably in an MSL role (preferred).

• 2+ years of therapeutic area experience (preferred).

• Completion of residency/fellowship (preferred).

• Board certification for clinical degrees (preferred).

• Commitment to learning and implementing emerging technologies such as AI.

• Must be located in a major metropolitan area; Birmingham or Kansas City preferred.
