Medical Science Liaison – Head & Neck Oncology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design and execute a scientific engagement strategy for the Central California region that aligns with the objectives of Medical Affairs.

• Build and nurture professional relationships with community and academic opinion leaders/KOLs.

• Facilitate high-quality, interactive scientific discussions with healthcare professionals.

• Gather, analyze, and utilize clinical, scientific, competitive, and regional information.

• Utilize AI tools and insights to enhance decision-making, streamline processes, improve efficiency, and drive outcomes.

• Track competitor activities and integrate evidence-based clinical context into engagement strategies.

• Present scientific data customized to meet the needs of healthcare professionals through discussions and presentations.

• Identify challenges and unmet needs, and suggest evidence-based solutions or educational programs.

• Provide actionable insights that contribute to medical strategy and cross-functional dialogue.

• Address unsolicited inquiries regarding Johnson & Johnson products and research.

• Assist investigators and internal stakeholders with company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies.

• Collaborate with Medical Affairs, R&D, U.S. and Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Sales, and Marketing teams.

• Keep up-to-date with scientific knowledge through self-study, journal clubs, seminars, conferences, and peer discussions.

• Promote inclusion and belonging both internally and externally.

• Stay informed about regulations, healthcare compliance, corporate conduct, and Medical Affairs SOPs.

• Create and execute a performance and development plan in conjunction with the Field Director.

• Accurately and compliantly complete administrative documentation and expense reports.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Doctorate-level degree or equivalent experience is mandatory (PharmD, PhD, MD, Advanced Practice Providers).

• Postgraduate experience is required for Doctoral-level candidates, preferably with clinical experience in a therapeutic area.

• Comprehensive scientific and/or therapeutic knowledge is necessary.

• Familiarity with research and/or the healthcare system is essential.

• Proficient in data collection and analysis, clinical expertise, problem-solving, interpersonal influence, cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, and competitive landscape analysis.

• Willingness to travel up to 70% within the territory and for internal meetings and conferences.

• A valid U.S. Driver’s License is required.

• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred, ideally in an MSL role.

• At least 2 years of experience in a therapeutic area is preferred.

• Completion of a residency or fellowship is preferred.

• Board certification for clinical degrees is preferred.

• A commitment to learning and implementing emerging technologies such as AI is essential.
