This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +3 more states.
• Act as the external medical representative for Medical Affairs in the field.
• Promote awareness of Ascendis Pharma within the endocrinology sector and highlight the capabilities of TransCon technology.
• Maintain medical knowledge supporting the portfolio/pipeline and associated disease states.
• Deliver medical and scientific presentations to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify key opinion leaders (KOLs) and significant organizations in the region.
• Assess the scientific needs of healthcare providers, researchers, and patient advocates.
• Develop and sustain a KOL engagement strategy.
• Collect and relay external insights regarding disease states, portfolio, pipeline, and competitors.
• Foster relationships with Market Access, Marketing, Sales, and other internal teams.
• Collaborate with MOSLs to meet regional objectives.
• Participate in the strategic goals and objectives of the Field Medical Team.
• Provide scientific support at medical congresses and at medical affairs booths.
• Facilitate internal onboarding and continuous medical training.
• Engage with external researchers concerning investigator-initiated trials.
• Assist clinical trial operations, investigators, sites, and patient recruitment efforts.
• Record relevant activities in the CRM system.
• Ensure compliance with departmental and corporate policies and procedures.
• MD/PhD/PharmD or an equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry as a medical science liaison is required.
• Experience in pediatric endocrinology, endocrinology, or rare diseases is preferred.
• Must be personable and enjoy engaging with healthcare providers and researchers.
• A strong passion for patient advocacy is essential.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong ability to understand and convey scientific and clinical information effectively in both virtual and live environments.
• Ability to collaborate with a diverse range of individuals to achieve outcomes.
• Capacity to work independently while organizing and prioritizing personal work schedules.
• Ability to make decisions that significantly influence the department’s integrity, operations, and services.
• Competence in creating materials such as reports and presentations and presenting to both internal and external audiences.
• Must reside near a major airport hub within the designated geography.
• A valid driver’s license in the state of residence is required, along with a satisfactory driving record.
• Estimated travel requirement of approximately 50-75%.
