Medical Records Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Manage Release of Information requests for healthcare clients.

• Assess requestor details and identify records to be disclosed in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

• Securely retrieve relevant patient information from client EHR systems and authorized electronic sources.

• Address phone calls, emails, and secure messages regarding ROI matters.

• Prioritize and process requests from physician offices as necessary.

• Securely transmit requested information via electronic delivery or eFax.

• Record medical record requests in Exchange Manager.

• Upload and index electronic medical records within Exchange Manager.

• Adhere to MRO and client facility protocols, HIPAA privacy and security standards, as well as remote work and information security guidelines.

• Engage in virtual meetings and training sessions.

• Undertake other tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED is mandatory.

• Previous experience in Release of Information within a physician’s office or HIM Department is advantageous.

• Proficient in computer applications and web-based systems.

• At least one year of experience entering data into computer systems.

• Required experience using the internet.

• Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting, effectively manage time, and achieve production targets.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Proven experience in responding to customer inquiries through phone, email, and virtual platforms.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Reliability is essential.

• Familiarity with medical terminology is beneficial.

• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations is preferred.

• Must reside and work in one of the authorized hiring states: Kentucky, Mississippi, New Mexico, or Texas.

• Must have a private, dedicated workspace that meets MRO privacy and security standards.

• Access to reliable high-speed internet service.

• Utilization of MRO-approved equipment and secure access methods, including VPN and multi-factor authentication.
