Medical Order Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maine.

📋 Description

• Examine and process modifications to current patient orders

• Confirm prescription accuracy and identify when updated documentation is necessary

• Verify insurance coverage and manage the submission or follow-up on authorizations

• Calculate and confirm enteral formula requirements

• Navigate insurance and payer portals efficiently

• Maintain precise, HIPAA-compliant documentation

• Communicate with patients and internal teams as required to resolve order issues

• Keep an organized office environment

• Monitor enteral formula storage temperatures according to safety standards

• Conduct regular safety checks, including inspections of fire extinguishers

• Oversee inventory of supplies and equipment

• Maintain clean and dirty equipment areas in accordance with health protocols

• Assist customers, vendors, and surveyors during their visits

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

• Experience in reviewing medical documentation, prescriptions, or insurance information

• Ability to handle multiple order changes while meeting turnaround expectations

• Comfortable working independently in a remote setting

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Quality- and compliance-oriented, with a commitment to patient confidentiality

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare administrative roles, order processing, or insurance

• Preferred experience in home health, DME, or enteral services

• Knowledge of insurance authorization is a plus

• High school diploma or GED is required

• Candidates located in the Central Time Zone will be given priority for consideration

• Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM CDT
