Medical Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Assume clinical accountability for Enhanced Care Management provided to Medi-Cal members facing high medical and social complexities.

• Establish standards for the clinical assessment of care plans and interactions.

• Oversee clinical protocols utilized by care teams, encompassing escalation pathways and criteria for patient acuity-tiering.

• Directly supervise two nurse practitioners responsible for clinical oversight across the ECM panel.

• Contribute clinical insights for health plan audits, fidelity requirements, and regulatory submissions.

• Manage clinical quality measures and address identified deficiencies.

• Collaborate with the Executive Director of Behavioral Health and Care Management on the RN service line.

• Work together with the SVP of Care Delivery on designing care models.

• Develop a documented clinical review standard, scalable protocols, validated acuity tiering, needs-based NP capacity allocation, and early visibility on quality gaps within the first year.

⛳️ Requirements

• MD or DO with a valid California medical license.

• Board certified in family medicine, internal medicine, or a related specialty.

• Proven experience in a medical director or similar clinical leadership position.

• Familiarity with Medicaid populations and managing complex, high-need patients.

• Experience with CalAIM and Enhanced Care Management is a considerable advantage.

• Background in clinical quality measurement, audits, and regulatory compliance.

• Experience supervising advanced practice clinicians.

• Experience in a tech-enabled or virtual-first healthcare delivery organization.

• Involvement with value-based or risk-bearing healthcare arrangements.

• Experience collaborating with community health workers and non-clinical care team members.

• Bilingual in Spanish or experience serving primarily Spanish-speaking populations.

• Must possess authorization to work in the United States.
