Medical Collections Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Oversee the complete accounts receivable process

• Confirm benefits along with demographic and insurance details

• Submit secondary insurance claims

• Dispatch monthly statements to patients

• Follow up on outstanding insurance claims

• Execute collection procedures for overdue accounts

• Facilitate claim resolution, which includes starting appeals

• Provide assistance to the business office as needed

• Assign codes for all claims using CPT and ICD-10 codes based on medical record findings

• Engage in continuing education opportunities

• Maintain effective communication and interpersonal relations with patients, coworkers, and other healthcare team members

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Two to four years of experience in third-party reimbursement, coding, and collections

• Computer proficiency required for billing, word processing, and spreadsheet tasks

• Strong understanding of coding and billing processes

• Capability to read and interpret English documents, including safety guidelines, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals

• Proficiency in writing routine reports and correspondence

• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and calculate rates, ratios, and percentages

• Effective communication skills over the phone, in writing, and in person

• Ability to read and comprehend an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from insurance providers

• Medical terminology and coding coursework are advantageous
