Medical Coding Specialist – Risk Adjustment

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide efficient and precise healthcare coding services for member clients.

• Ensure adherence to payer requirements, organizational policies, and relevant coding guidelines.

• Extract and interpret diagnoses and procedures from patient medical records and electronic health systems.

• Review patient encounters and assign the correct diagnosis and procedure codes.

• Validate the accuracy and completeness of clinical information.

• Facilitate appropriate reimbursement by suggesting accurate code assignments for third-party payer claims.

• Identify potential high-risk coding trends.

• Implement best practices to enhance revenue and improve coding accuracy.

• Research and gather additional information from providers or clinical staff through Epic In-Basket messaging.

• Proactively escalate complex or unique coding issues.

• Collaborate with supervisors to address coding challenges.

• Apply newly acquired knowledge to future situations.

• Recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

• Support member organizations on-site for new software installations as required.

• Carry out other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A certificate of completion from AAPC (CPC Certificate), AHIMA (CCS Certificate), or ADCA (CDC certificate) is mandatory; certification must be obtained at the time of application.

• Experience working with Epic EHR is highly preferred.

• Experience with FQHCs is strongly desired; candidates with FQHC experience will receive priority.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis at the time of application.

• Ability to work independently and effectively from a home office environment.

• High-speed Internet service is required.

• Ability to maintain a distraction-free workplace.

• Proficiency in reading, speaking, writing, and understanding English.

• Ability to sit for extended periods; stand and walk; use hands for dexterity; and reach with hands and arms.

• Must be on camera for all virtual meetings.
