Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Accurately apply ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes in accordance with the documentation and services provided.

• Ensure correct code sequencing, use of modifiers, and adherence to payer and regulatory standards.

• Review and rectify coding issues, claim denials, or rejected submissions.

• Complete necessary documentation or system entries related to claims.

• Abstract additional data elements during the chart review process.

• Examine patient medical records and clinical documentation.

• Identify any incomplete or missing documentation and coordinate queries with providers.

• Keep abreast of coding regulations, payer policies, and healthcare compliance requirements.

• Facilitate clean claim submissions and ensure billing accuracy.

• Collaborate with Billing, Accounts Receivable, and Authorization teams.

• Maintain standards for productivity and accuracy.

• Assist in audit and compliance efforts.

• Engage in internal and client quality audits and reviews.

• Train, mentor, and guide billers to promote accurate coding and billing practices.

• Stay updated on medical coding, billing standards, and auditing protocols.

• Adhere to team and/or client procedures, policies, and methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Ability to handle and preserve confidential information.

• Graduate of medical allied courses; candidates with backgrounds in Nursing, Physical Therapy, or Medical Technology are preferred but not mandatory.

• Minimum commitment of 6 months on a consultancy contract, with the possibility of renewal.

• 1 to 3 years of experience in Medical Coding.

• Preferably experienced in Gastroenterology or Same Day Surgery.

• Active coding certification (e.g., CPC) is required.

• Flexibility in managing different specialties and client assignments.

• Knowledge of ICD-9 or ICD-10 coding standards.

• A team player who is willing to assist, coach, and train billers on coding-specific requirements.

• Capable of sharing coding expertise with team members.

• Proficient in data entry, achieving a minimum of 50 to 60 accurate keystrokes per minute.

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time management skills.

• Reliable internet connection and backup for remote work.
