Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Accurately apply ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes in accordance with documentation and services provided.

• Ensure correct code sequencing, modifiers, and adherence to payer and regulatory guidelines.

• Review and rectify coding-related errors, denials, or rejected claims.

• Complete necessary documentation or system entries related to claims.

• Abstract additional data elements during chart reviews while coding.

• Examine patient medical records and clinical documentation.

• Identify incomplete or missing documentation and facilitate provider queries.

• Keep abreast of coding rules, payer policies, and healthcare regulations.

• Assist in ensuring clean claim submissions and billing precision.

• Collaborate with Billing, AR, and Authorization teams.

• Uphold productivity and accuracy standards.

• Support audit and compliance initiatives.

• Engage in internal and client quality audits/reviews.

• Train, coach, and mentor billers to ensure precise coding and billing practices.

• Stay informed about medical coding, billing guidelines, and auditing protocols.

• Adhere to team and/or client procedures, policies, and methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Capability to handle and maintain confidential information.

• Graduate of medical allied courses; Nurses, Physical Therapists, Medical Technologists (preferred but not mandatory).

• Minimum 6-month consultancy contract, subject to renewal.

• 1–3 years of experience in Medical Coding.

• Preferably exposure to Gastroenterology or Same Day Surgery.

• Active coding license (e.g., CPC).

• Flexibility in managing various specialties and client assignments.

• Understanding of ICD-9 or ICD-10 coding.

• Team-oriented individual willing to assist, coach, and train billers on coding requirements.

• Ability to provide and share coding expertise with team members.

• Data entry proficiency of 50–60 accurate keystrokes per minute.

• Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and effective time management skills.

• Capability to work from home with reliable internet and backup connection.
