Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Accurately apply ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes in accordance with documentation and services provided.

• Ensure the correct sequence of codes, modifiers, and adherence to payer and regulatory standards.

• Review and rectify coding-related discrepancies, denials, or rejected claims.

• Complete the necessary documentation or system entries related to claims.

• Abstract additional data elements during the Chart Review process while coding.

• Examine patient medical records and clinical documentation.

• Identify any incomplete or missing documentation and coordinate queries with providers.

• Stay informed about coding regulations, payer policies, and healthcare compliance requirements.

• Facilitate accurate claim submissions and billing processes.

• Collaborate with Billing, AR, and Authorization teams.

• Uphold productivity and accuracy benchmarks.

• Assist with audits and compliance initiatives.

• Participate in internal and client quality audits and reviews.

• Train, mentor, and guide billers to ensure precise coding and billing practices.

• Keep abreast of medical coding, billing guidelines, and audit protocols.

• Adhere to the proper procedures, policies, and methodologies set by the team and/or client.

⛳️ Requirements

• Capability to handle and maintain confidential information.

• Graduate from medical allied courses; Nurses, Physical Therapists, and Medical Technologists preferred but not mandatory.

• Minimum 6 months of consultancy contract, subject to renewal.

• 1–3 years of experience in Medical Coding.

• Preferably with exposure to Gastroenterology or Same Day Surgery.

• An active coding license, e.g., CPC.

• Flexibility in managing various specialties and client assignments.

• Understanding of ICD-9 or ICD-10 coding standards.

• A team player who is willing to assist, coach, and train billers on coding-related requirements.

• Ability to share and impart coding knowledge with team members as necessary.

• Data entry skills with a minimum of 50–60 accurate keystrokes per minute.

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and effective time management skills.

• Must be able to work from home with a reliable internet connection and backup.
