Medical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Precisely associate images with the corresponding elements in electronic health records.

• Confirm that images are properly uploaded and are clear for viewing.

• Identify Financial Identification Numbers (FINs) and accurately connect documents to the relevant veteran records.

• Categorize documents in the appropriate sections while noting the title, date of service, and visit location.

• Conduct 100% internal quality assurance on all tasks prior to submission.

⛳️ Requirements

• Familiarity with medical clinics and clinical documentation processes.

• Capability to find Financial Identification Numbers (FINs) and accurately associate documents with the right veteran record in Cerner/Oracle.

• Proficiency in indexing documents in the correct sections, including title, date of service, and visit location within health records.

• Competence in verifying that images are correctly uploaded and are clear for viewing.

• Data entry skills with a strong emphasis on detail and accuracy.

• Proficiency in computer use, particularly with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).

• Previous experience with Cerner/Oracle or similar EHR document management systems is preferred.

• An active coding credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or equivalent) is required.

• Previous experience with VA or federal healthcare coding is highly preferred.

• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
