Hospital Outpatient Coder II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +13 more states.

📋 Description

• Utilize clinical coding expertise in accordance with the Official Coding Guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic.

• Accurately assign ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT codes for Ambulatory Surgery, Gastrointestinal, Infusion, and Observation encounters.

• Collaborate closely with physicians, clinical documentation improvement specialists, quality assurance staff, and patient finance personnel.

• Assist with billing processes, research initiatives, internal and external reporting, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Address CCI edits, claim denials, and any other challenges impacting billing and reimbursement.

• Verify APC accuracy and extract essential data for the HIM abstracting system and data warehouse repository.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent qualification.

• Minimum of two years experience in acute care outpatient coding, including outpatient diagnostic and emergency department coding.

• CIRCC certification preferred, or alternatively CPC, CPC-H, CCA, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P certification.

• Must reside in and be authorized to work in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or Wisconsin.

• Capable of meeting physical demands, including lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.

• Proficient in close eye work involving computers, typing, reading, and writing tasks.
