Hospital Inpatient Coder III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +13 more states.

📋 Description

• Apply clinical coding expertise in accordance with Official Coding Conventions guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic.

• Accurately assign ICD-9 and/or ICD-10 codes for each inpatient encounter.

• Collaborate closely with physicians, clinical documentation improvement specialists, quality staff, and patient finance personnel.

• Provide support for billing, research, internal and external reporting, and ensure regulatory compliance.

• Guarantee the accuracy of DRGs.

• Precisely extract core data into the HIM abstracting system and data warehouse repository.

• Enable accurate data collection for patient acuity, severity of illness, and quality outcomes.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.

• Minimum of 5 years of inpatient and outpatient coding experience in an acute care setting.

• Completion of a coding proficiency evaluation is mandatory.

• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of MS-DRGs.

• Familiarity with disease processes, clinical pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.

• Must be physically present and authorized to work in one of the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin.

• Capability to meet specified physical requirements, including lifting and carrying tasks.

• Ability to work in environments with designated occupational exposures while utilizing personal protective equipment, including respirators.
