This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Deliver both in-person and telephonic Medical Case Management.
• Collaborate closely with injured workers to support their recovery process.
• Partner with patients, families, physicians, healthcare providers, employers, referral sources, attorneys, advisors/clients, and colleagues.
• Oversee a caseload of workers’ compensation injured individuals within a specified jurisdiction.
• Discuss existing and alternative treatment plans with physicians.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the progress of patients.
• Review treatment plans for relevance, medical necessity, and cost-effectiveness.
• Participate in visits or conferences at doctors’ offices, providers, homes, attorney offices, hospitals, and long-term care facilities.
• Assess the appropriateness of care and develop strategies for long-term care.
• Negotiate the provision of durable medical equipment and nursing services.
• Travel locally for approximately 60% of the work week/month.
• Carry out additional duties as necessary.
• Must hold a valid registered nurse license.
• Must live in the Tacoma/Olympia region of Washington.
• Reliable form of transportation is required.
• Experience as an RN Medical Case Manager is preferred.
• A clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation is advantageous.
• Graduate from an accredited nursing school is necessary.
• Current RN Licensure in the state of practice is required.
• Certification as a CCM, CIRS, or other relevant Case Management certifications is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Capability to travel to assigned locations is essential.
• Strong communication and multi-tasking abilities in a high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented setting.
• Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills are necessary.
• Proficiency with computers and technical skills are expected.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office, including Excel spreadsheets, is required.
• Must be capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
• Background in cost containment, such as utilization review or managed care, is beneficial.
