Medical Case Manager II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Deliver both in-person and telephonic Medical Case Management for injured workers.

• Engage patients, physicians, healthcare providers, employers, referral sources, families, attorneys, advisors/clients, and coworkers in the case management process.

• Consult with physicians on current and alternative treatment plans utilizing medical and nursing expertise.

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the progress of patients.

• Review treatment plans for their suitability, medical necessity, and cost-effectiveness.

• Attend visits to doctors, providers, homes, attorneys, hospitals, and long-term care facilities, as well as participate in discharge planning conferences.

• Conduct initial evaluation home visits.

• Determine the appropriateness of care and formulate long-term care strategies.

• Negotiate the provision of durable medical equipment and nursing services.

• Manage a caseload of workers' compensation injured employees within a specified jurisdiction.

• Support the recovery of injured workers.

• Travel locally and potentially overnight based on the injuries and needs of workers.

• Collect documents and log activities using CorVel's proprietary Case Management application.

• Perform additional responsibilities as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a Registered Nurse (RN).

• Graduate from an accredited nursing school.

• Possess current RN licensure in the state of operation.

• Ideal candidates will have experience as an RN Medical Case Manager.

• A clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation is preferred.

• Certification as a CCM, CIRS, or other relevant Case Management certification is preferred.

• Valid driver's license required.

• Reliable transportation is essential.

• Must be able to travel to assigned locations.

• Availability for local travel up to approximately 60% of the work week/month.

• Ability to work Monday through Friday during standard business hours.

• Strong communication and multitasking abilities in a high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

• Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.

• Proficiency in computer skills and technical aptitude, including Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets.

• Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

• Background in cost containment, such as utilization review or managed care, is advantageous.
